Planned Generation, Radiant Future: FEB Udayana University’s 2026 Kemendiktisaintek BIMA Community Service Grant Team Strengthens Bali GenRe Forum Literacy

The younger generation is currently facing various critical life choices, making a comprehensive understanding of fertility, demographics, and family structures increasingly vital. Driven by this spirit, the Community Service Team of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University (FEB Unud), in collaboration with the Bali Province GenRe (Generasi Berencana / Planned Generation) Forum, hosted an educational seminar titled "Fertility Literacy and Bali Family Planning (KB): From Culture to Life Choices." Held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at the Wacika Room, BKKBN (National Population and Family Planning Board) Office of Bali Province, this event is part of the #PahamSebelumPilih (#UnderstandBeforeChoosing) Program. The program aims to strengthen the capacity of youth as active population literacy agents.

A total of 30 participants from the Bali Province GenRe Forum—comprising the 2026 Bali GenRe Ambassador Finalists, 2025 Bali GenRe Ambassadors, and the forum's executive committee—attended the seminar to unpack several strategic issues, including: The current fertility conditions and the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of Bali Province, The local KB Krama Bali (Balinese Family Planning) policy, The child-free phenomenon analyzed from a demographic perspective, and The vital importance of dialogic communication in disseminating information to the public.

Through these topics, participants were encouraged to understand that every critical life choice must be grounded in accurate, evidence-based information rather than mere contemporary trends.

The event featured two prominent keynote speakers whose expertise offered complementary perspectives: Prof. Dr. Dra. Anak Agung Istri Ngurah Marhaeni, M.S. (Demographic Economics Academic at FEB Unud and Board Member of the Indonesian Population Coalition, Bali Chapter) delivered insights on fertility literacy, Bali’s TFR status, and the implementation of KB Krama Bali. Dr. Made Dwi Setyadhi Mustika, S.E., M.Si. (Demographic Economics Academic at FEB Unud, Communication Practitioner, and Leader of the Community Service Team) discussed advanced dialogic communication techniques. This session empowered the youth to deliver population education in an inclusive, data-driven, and non-judgmental manner.

The entire interactive discussion was moderated by Nyoman Diestha Putra Narindra (a Management '24 student and student member of the Community Service Team).

The younger generation requires empowering learning spaces that actively foster healthy discussions, critical thinking, and the ability to filter out misinformation. Through the #PahamSebelumPilih Program, the Bali Province GenRe Forum is expected to be highly prepared to act as objective, inclusive, and relevant population literacy agents for the community. Together, let us cultivate a generation that truly understands before choosing.
