DOCTORAL PROMOTION TRIAL IN NYOMAN NURCAYA, S.E., M.M. MANAGEMENT SCIENCE DOCTORAL STUDY PROGRAM FEB UNUD

Students from the Management Science Doctoral Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University, on behalf of I Nyoman Nurcaya, S.E., M.M., held a doctoral promotion session and officially received their doctoral degree on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. This Doctoral Promotion Session was chaired by the Chair of the Session, namely Mr. Prof. Dr. Ida Bagus Anom Purbawangsa, S.E., M.M., as Coordinator of the Doctoral Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University.


The educational history of Promovendus I Nyoman Nurcaya, S.E., M.M. is that he graduated from a Bachelor of Economics, Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University, in 1993, and a Masters in Management, Faculty of Economics, Udayana University, in 2008. Regarding the theme of the dissertation raised by Promovendus I Nyoman Nurcaya, S.E., M.M. What was able to bring Promovendus to a doctorate was the development of the concept of business performance for the UMKM apparel industry in Bali.


The aim of this research is to explain how the variables of entrepreneurial orientation, learning orientation, innovation strategy, and technological resources can directly improve the business performance of apparel MSMEs in Bali. The research results show that (1) entrepreneurial orientation and learning orientation have a positive and significant effect on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali; (2) entrepreneurial orientation and learning orientation have a positive and significant effect on innovation strategy; (3) innovation strategies have a positive and significant effect on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali; and (4) technological resources have a positive and significant effect on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali. (5) Innovation strategy significantly mediates the influence of entrepreneurship and learning orientation on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali; (6) Technological resources significantly moderate the influence of entrepreneurial orientation on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali; and (7) Technological resources do not significantly strengthen the influence of learning on the business performance of MSMEs in the apparel industry in Bali.


This doctoral promotion session was held offline at the BH Building, 3.4 Floor, FEB Unud-Sudirman, where the promoter from Promovendus was Mrs. Prof. Dr. Dra. I'm Gst. Ayu Kt. Giantari, M.Si., and for co-promoter I, namely Dr. Ni Wayan Ekawati, S.E., M.M., and co-promoter II, Prof. Dr. I Putu Gde Sukaatmadja, S.E., M.P. This doctor's promotion was also attended by three academic invitees consisting of Mr. Dr. I Made Artha Wibawa, S.E., M.M., Mrs. Dr. Ni Ketut Seminari, S.E., M.Si., and Mrs. Wayan Ardani, SS. MM, an alumnus of the Doctoral Management Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University. Promovendus is a lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Udayana University. Promovendus successfully passed the exam with the title of Very Satisfactory.
