The PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB Unud Achieves Funding for Two Consecutive Years

Denpasar, Press Bureau of BEM FEB Unud: The Student Organization Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK Ormawa) team of the Udayana University Faculty of Economics and Business Student Executive Board (BEM FEB Unud) successfully passed funding from the program carried out by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) through the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) on Tuesday (21/05) for the proposal that had been proposed. The theme of the PPK Ormawa 2024 event is “Strengthening the capacity of student organizations and improving student soft skills through community service and empowerment for the advancement of villages in Indonesia." PPK Ormawa is a community service and empowerment program initiated, planned, and implemented by student organizations. This program aims to improve students' soft skills, such as creativity, social sensitivity, critical thinking, courage, leadership, and social responsibility, and produce positive impacts that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with support from universities and stakeholders. In this program, the PPK Ormawa BEM FEB Unud team proposed a proposal entitled “Prasiwara: Optimizing Prasi Art Development through Customer Engagement-Based Community Empowerment to Realize Nyuhtebel Village as an Entrepreneurial Village.”.

The PPK Ormawa BEM FEB Unud team consists of 15 people consisting of the 2021 and 2022 generations, chaired by Ni Ketut Suryawardhani Kusumastuti from the Accounting Study Program class of 2022, with members, namely Anak Agung Ayu Kirana Wulandari from the Development Economics Study Program class of 2021, Putu Budhayanthi Isyana Darma, and Ni Komang Deepa Shanti Dewi from the Management Study Program class of 2021. Then I Kadek Agus Putra Mahendra, Kadek Kamalatmika Nammi, I Made Putra Theo Bagaskara, Ni Made Widya Listyarini, and Amanda Cherlly Agustin from the Management Study Program class of 2022. Furthermore, I am Putu Krisnantara Adi Wiguna, Dharma Yuda, Putu Rika Indriani, Kadek Ayu Mirah Ariyani, Dewa Ayu Dwi Chandra Putri, and Wayan Ditya Sulastawan from the Accounting Study Program class of 2022. In addition, this team was also accompanied by a supervisor, namely Gusti Made Suwandana, S.E., M.M.

This year, there were 622 PPK Ormawa teams from various universities in Indonesia who successfully passed the funding, including 10 PPK Ormawa teams from Udayana University. The PPK Ormawa BEM FEB Unud team is the only team representing FEB Unud in this year's funding. In this prestigious event, the PPK BEM FEB Unud team highlighted the problems in Nyuhtebel Village, which faced obstacles in managing the production and marketing of paintings on palm leaves (prasi art). This problem arises because the local community's interest in pursuing prasi art is decreasing, so the potential of the art has not been optimally utilized. The PPK Ormawa Team of BEM FEB Unud was present to provide solutions to the problems of Nyuhtebel Village, Karangasem, to help optimize production and marketing through community empowerment innovations by carrying out socialization and training in village communities as a form of community empowerment based on customer engagement in realizing an entrepreneurial village. Customer engagement is a business strategy that focuses on active interactions between consumers and companies, aiming to create strong and sustainable relationships. The application of this concept in realizing the Entrepreneurial Village, which is the sub-theme of this year's PPK Ormawa, is very relevant to the knowledge learned by team members during lectures at FEB Unud. This proves that the PPK Ormawa team is able to design programs that are in line with the knowledge learned, integrating academic knowledge with practical solutions to solve real problems in society.

In addition to providing training on palm leaf painting processing, technical training on marketing and financial management will also be conducted, as well as benchmarking to help empower the Nyuhtebel Village community. The PPK Ormawa team also presents an empowerment program for the cultivation of lontar plants in Nyuhtebel Village and directs product sales at community events. These programs are certainly not only rooted in the mind. “As the team leader, I am very grateful to be accompanied by 14 great people who do have the same goal, which is to serve the community directly and want to have a positive impact on others. In my opinion, our team was able to successfully pass the funding because we compiled the program based on the knowledge base that we learned in our faculty, namely Economics and Business, so that this program not only provides socialization but also provides direct practices to the village community on how to process, market, internal control, and build business sustainability. I think this is also because this program is the result of joint discussions not only from the implementation team but also from the village government and the community directly so that we can formulate problems and solutions and produce this Prasiwara, “said Suryawardhani.

The implementation of PPK Ormawa activities goes through a fairly long process, starting with the socialization held by the university. Next are proposal writing and proposal revision. The initial selection was carried out by the university, and then the proposals that passed were sent to the center. Followed by the presentation selection stage. At this presentation stage, each team sent 1 representative for the presentation and 2 additional people to help during the question and answer session with the reviewer. One of these two additional people comes from the Ormawa that houses the team and plays a role in supporting the team during the presentation. After the announcement of the teams that successfully passed the funding, all teams began to be able to carry out PPK Ormawa activities in the intended village from June to October. Suryawardhani revealed that there were many lessons learned during the process of the PPK Ormawa stages to successfully achieve funding. “Overall, the series of PPK Ormawa activities provided a lot of valuable lessons and experiences. From the planning stage, we learned to work together, innovate, and be responsible. We hope that this experience will have a positive impact, especially helping the Nyuhtebel village community to become an entrepreneurial village, and of course it will also benefit the development of our organization.”.

The success of the PPK Ormawa BEM FEB team in winning funding for two consecutive years is certainly an honor to be able to contribute to improving the good name of the FEB Unud academic community in general and BEM FEB in particular. This achievement shows the dedication and hard work of the team in presenting programs that are beneficial to the community. Suryawardhani hopes that all programs implemented can have an impact on all parties involved. “Of course, my hope for PPK Ormawa in the future is that this program can continue to grow and consistently provide a forum for us students in higher education to directly serve the community. Then I hope that with this program, the people of Nyuhtebel Village can feel a positive impact on their economic sector,” said Suryawardhani. (mrh)
