Who Must Apply?
Ethical Clearance submission must be made
Students who carry out a thesis or dissertation
Lecturers and researchers who conduct grant-funded or independent research
Researchers who involve human respondents or research participants
Research that uses individual data or addresses sensitive issues and vulnerable groups
Ethical Clearance application process
The process for applying for ethical clearance is shown in the following flowchart:

The submission process begins with the researcher submitting an application and supporting documents, which the secretariat then verifies administratively. The Ethics Committee then reviews the ethical feasibility of the research, including risk analysis and compliance with ethical principles. Based on the review, the Ethics Committee issues a decision to approve, request revision, or reject. If approved, an official Ethical Clearance Letter will be issued, including a registration number and a specified validity period.
The Ethical Clearance service process is carried out in several stages with a measurable estimated time, namely an administrative examination for 2-3 working days and an ethical review by the Ethics Committee for 5-10 working days, so that the entire process of issuing Ethical Clearance can generally be completed within a period of 7-14 working days, depending on the complexity of the research submitted.
The Research Ethics Committee conducts the Ethical Clearance assessment against several key criteria, including the clarity of the research objectives, the suitability of the methods used, the benefits of the research, the feasibility of the informed consent process, the protection of participants, the guarantee of confidentiality and data security, and the protection of vulnerable groups, if the research involves them.
